Dunhuang, Gansu
Dunhuang hugs the Taklamakan desert at the eastern edge of Gansu Province. Despite the small size of the town, it attracts tourists internationally. Most people make the journey to see the ancient Buddhist cave paintings nearby at Mogao Ku. The attraction for me is the immediate access to an endless sea of sand dunes.
